At 4 to 5 weeks you can take mom away during the feeding and let her come back when they're done so she doesn't eat it instead and offer a watered down food (I start with A/D flavored water and move up) in a shallow dish a couple times a day and then increase the consistency as needed. Then you can start soaking dry food and then that's less and less until they're chewing and eating from the same bowl as 'mom'. It goes faster than it sounds but is AWFULLY messy in the beginning (you may want to put a potty pad or newspaper or something down underneath). :-)
