I have pit bull mix puppies and they just turned 3 weeks today. My dam is starting not to want to feed them and I noticed they are getting there teeth in already so I started giving then puppy mush (mixture of high protien can food, soaked in water hard puppy food, and puppy replacement milk) and they love it!

You should really wait until she starts eating dry food and mix a little wet food in with it (by little I mean 2 tablespoons) and crush the dry food up as best you can! You should start this when her teeth are ready for it... About 5 weeks or a little there after... Hope this answered your question... I have had many litters, but one when the mom hung herself when the pups were 4 weeks old... We gave them milk, then when they were ready, wet n dry mixed, put hot water on the dry food before you mix it with wet, it will soften it up for her little fragile teeth!!!  Allison

You can start feeding them canned dog food after some
time when they will have teeth and when they will be able to digest that food.
But till then, you can feed him with some soft food like Drools Puppy Starter
Food http://www.petsworld.in/drools-puppy-starter.html. This food will act as a balanced diet for your puppy
and will also take care of the health of your puppy.

You don't introduce solid food until they are 6 weeks or older. It needs to be soft for a little while, but you really need to switch up to hard food after that. It helps to keep their teeth clean, and keeps them strong. Hope this helps, good luck.

My 6 week old puppy shakes for a couple minutes after he eats his wet food mixed with a little bit of milk, is this normal?

I'd say not until there 6 to 8 weeks old, but then by the time they are 8 weeks old you might be better off giving your puppy dry puppy chow with a little bit of canned dog food, because if you just give your puppy soft canned dog food then your puppy will end up with the squirts all the time. So I'd definitely recommend dry puppy chow at 6 to 8 weeks old and if you want to add a little soft canned dog food then that's fine too, but only like 1 table spoon of the soft canned dog food mixed with the puppy chow(dry). Good luck, hope this helps!

Sorry tiggersmom, but they are soposed to be weaned by 6 weeks. I always introduce it slowly about 4 weeks. Mix the soft can food with the formula you are using. Not a lot at first, it should still be watery. And slowly make it a litter thicker every few days. By the time they leave home (6 weeks) they can eat straight out of the can. By the time they are 2 months they should be more than ready for hard food. Just a suggestion, I have always found Purina (little bites bigger dogs and puppy chow for the babies)to be the easiest on their digestive tracks. And my nose!!! HAHA

You can feed the pup puppy food at about 4-5 weeks, you should be mixing weetabix with puppy milk and introduce a little of the canned food.
