A Chihuahua will usually have up to four puppies but sometimes can even only have one.
A Chihuahua is normally pregnant for roughly 63 days. When she is first pregnant you will notice a hardening or swelling of her belly and nipples, and she will be lethargic and have a clingy nature. During the final days of your dog’s pregnancy you will see her trying to create her nest. When a Chihuahua breeds with another Chihuahua they will usually have a small litter of one to four puppies. If your Chihuahua‘s mate was smaller than her, she can probably stay at home to have her puppies naturally. They more often than not though, have to have a Caesarean delivery due to the size of the puppies’ heads. You will have to take your pregnant Chihuahua to your vet frequently so that they can monitor her pregnancy.
The Chihuahua mama will feed and clean her puppies in the first couple of weeks. It is important to keep the whelping box clean at all times. Her puppies will only start to walk when they are about four weeks old. At this time you can start weaning them and feed them solid food. Young Chihuahua puppies need to constantly eat at three-hour intervals until they are eight weeks old. You must make sure that you follow their feeding guidelines. Keep them medicated, vaccinated, and always warm. They can be little daredevils and quite rambunctious so keep them away from high places. Your puppy might have a soft spot (molera) on their head so be careful of injury. Chihuahua puppies can go to their new homes when they are about eight weeks old. They should be de-wormed before they go. You should begin their vaccination schedules for the puppies’ optimum health.

I waited until my female was three years  old before breeding her. She was around 8 pounds prior to getting pregnant. I mated her with my 3 pound male as I wanted the male to be smaller than the female....it just makes giving birth a lot easier on the female. Little did I know it would only cause a litter of eight puppies. Those pups are around two and a half years old now and are all doing fine. I bred her a second time and ten pups popped out. One didn't make it as he was extremely small and the vet just couldn't do anything further for him. I recently bred her for the last time.....this is to avoid over breeding her, and she had 13 this time. The last pup came out stillborn, but the vet got him all squared away in no time. There are some extremely small ones and some extremely huge ones in this litter. I know some will ask....yes they are both purebred and registered. It is just breeding what some would call a deer head with an apple head. They are both chi's and both come from the same standard so there is no worries with breeding the two. They have produced 5 teacups, and a few floppy eared pups.

I have a black, 6-7 lb. Pure-bred chihuahua who had 7 babies in one litter. Six of them
were from a neighbor's brown/black chihuahua and one is black and white and looks
like a little cow and don't know who his father is. She was in labor from 11:30-5 pm
in the evening and all of her pups are healthy and beautiful.

It all depend on the size of the chihuahua. Even that is not always true. Some can have just one and others can have up to 8 or more. Keep in mind the more they have the smaller they are. Hopes this helps

I have a AKC teacup (3lbs) chihuahua and she just had 3 puppies all very healthy, And my other purebred toy (7lbs) chihuahua had 6 very healthy puppies her first litter. Although I am very lucky most teacups have a lot of problems delivering puppies and most don't make it. Luckily all of her's made it. Please breed responsibly. Hope this helps.

Depends on the dog. How many did you feel moving inside her?? She should have had the other with in a few hours if not minutes. A long with all the placentas for each puppy. Keep a close eye on dog! They USUALLY CARRY NO MORE THAN 3.

Puppies usually have only about 2,3,4,5 or maybe 7 puppies, all depending on how old it is and it's weight.

Seriously. . Breed a year old dog.

Why not get your dogs health tested, certified and OFA cleared

Or.. If you are cheap just spay or neuter them.
