Are Pet Rats Dirty?

They're not dirty at all if you keep their cages clean. As for the smell-I don't think they smell any worse than hamsters or mice

No, you just have to make sure you care for them properly and keep their cage clean and have enough space (common mistake and not very nice to keep them in to small a space). A rat is one of the best pets you could ever have. They are smart (they can learn tricks faster than most dogs), sweet, mischievious, trainable, and just awesome. You just have to be willing to care for them PROPERLY.

Not at all  they are not SEWER RATS! Pet rats are very clean they will always groom themselves after being held keep a clean cage they are extremely smart animals and you can train them to come to you and so on which is why they are tested on so much in labs.

If looked after well they can live to 5 years of age they are very tame and sweet very rare they bite the love attention

do not confuse a sewer rat for a pet rat and they do not carry diseases at all!

PET RATS are not dirty themselves. They are surprisingly neat and clean themselves mostly all the time. They also usually have neat cages if they're trained. Most rats ues on place to do their buisness. As long as you clean the cage the rat will stay nice and clean too. Oh, and the petshop rats don't carry diseases, unless rabies, which would only happen to out door rats. In my opinion they are cute and usually nice and friendly, friendlier than mice at least. Lots of people are stereotyping here. Not all rats are vicious, rabid, gross, mean, pests, but some may be. I bet half of you haters have never had a pet rat anyways.

No pet rats arent dirty! They actually groom themselves and other animals/people 70% a day(when they are awake) and they do smell but it doesnt smell horrible. Male rats may smell cause they mark their territory. Female rats have a smell but its not discusting. And you don't have to clean their cages daily! Only once a week. :] rats are super clean!!! They are also smart!

No they are not dirty at all. I have 2 male rats and they are not messy. They have been trained to wee and poo in a litter tray and they don't chuck their food everywhere like my hamster does

Only if you never clean them out. My rats are not dirty at all. They don't like living in a dirty cage. They keep their food to one section of their cage and the wee and poo in a litter tray

No. Rats are actually one of the cleanest animals and are infact cleaner than your pencil. They spend a lot of thier time cleaning themselves and make great pets.
Only sewer rats carry diseases.

That is not true.
I have 2 pet rats and they are very clean.
Rats don't carry deseases only  the rats that had the plague many ceintures ago.
