Scabies, a skin irritation caused by tiny mites, can be passed from animals to humans. If you think your rat has it then get it checked by a vet. If you exhibit any symptoms, ie, intense itching, get an appointment with your doctor.
The rat's cage should be thoroughly cleaned out, and if you think you have scabies then wash as many of your clothes and bedding as possible.
