I just read an article about this, and it says it's ok if the mama cat is skinny as long as she is not acting sick. Feed the mama cat a high quality kitten food. Let her have as much as she wants because she is feeding herself as well as the kittens. The extra nutrients that are in the kitten food will go into the mama cat's milk and help with the kitten's development.
