How old is the animal? Have you thought about either reading up on the effects of age on Chihuahuas at the library or online.? I know the dog can't catch your attention so I'll attempt to connect up with it! Is it possible the dog fell or was struck by a car and injured her back?

Your companion has a serious health problem that you will have to seek help for, as the canine is not capable of in your presence.

Your chihuahua sounds like it has a disc herniation ("slipped disc") which makes it very painful for the dog to walk. Chihuahua's, as they age, are very prone to spine abnormalities because of their very small size. They will suffer joint problems, arthritis as well. If your chihuahua had a recent fall, he may have a hip dislocation, which would make it impossible for him to walk. Since he is in a lot of pain, he will not eat. When a dog cannot move or eat, it slips into a depression. The best thing to do is to take him to a vet pronto. As waiting will surely do more harm than good.

Its possible she may have pressure on her spine caused by a tumour. Unless it is malignant it can be surgically removed and mobility restored. It would require a major surgery and most likely a very expensive one. Unless treated it would be likely to get bigger and mobility reduced further bringing with it, a whole raft of complications. The bottom line is that she would need to be seen by a vet.
