Have you checked to make sure that there is nothing in his mouth or between or behind his teeth that make it painful for him to close his mouth? Or to see if he has broken a tooth? I have heard of a dog that got a piece of bone stuck in his mouth and could not close it.
My border terrier had the same problem, her mouth was open all the time and so, we went to the vet and they said that she was paralyzed in the nerves at the jaw or something.. It would be gone after a few weeks.
I think you should go to the vet since I am not sure about they having the same. We paid the bill of 250€... Pretty much but I'm just glad my dog survived..
