Come on!!!! I'm new to this site and always polite. But not right now. You are the epitome of a bad pitbull owner. Your desire to make your pitbull attack on command is what has absolutely positively ruined the reputation of that breed. Dogs are man's best friend. They are naturally protective of their "pack." They are loyal to the very end of their days. The very least you can do is be loyal to him...to protect him. And not teach him to be some kind of wild, rabid dog that ends up being put down through absolutely no fault of his own. Shame On You.

There is no "best way" to do this.  I assume you are in the USA as even owning these dogs is illegal in Britain.
What if you taught your dog to do this, and someone else accidentally used your command word or signal?  It is unthinkable.  I sense that you feel in need of personal protection.  Perhaps you would benefit from doing some self-defense training such as judo or karate?  THis is a serious suggestion.

Why would you even want to do this!!! This is horrible thing to teach your dog to do! This breed is wonderful and already has such a bad reputation because humans keep teaching them such bad behavior! Shame on you! You should teach your dog love and affection. He depends on you for his life and you are only taking it away and creating an unhappy fearful and aggressive dog. Respect the animals around you for if you don;t they will one day turn on you! Think before you act!!!!!!

First off, pit bulls are very good loyal dogs. When taught correctly, they can be very good protection dogs just like the german Shepard's that cops use. Pit bulls make great protection dogs if you know what your doing. But they really do have a natural loyal tendency to protect their master as well as their masters household. So it all really depends on how you raise it. C R L viper is an idiot don't do that unless you want him to show aggression towards your friend every time he comes to your house. If you want him trained right take him to a protection training school

Ppl make these dog dangerous if you train them they are trained.  If you train them to be aggressive they are aggressive.  Ppl who say pitbulls are dangerous because y'all are poodle owners and live inside a box. My pitbull never has barked at a child growled at a person for no given reason she is discipline well me and my family can never have a well behave dog.

Why would you want a dog to attack there are enough vicious dogs in the world already. You are like many people that make many dogs end up in the pound.

In most places it is illegal to train your dog to attack.  If your dog does attack someone, even if you intentionally do it can be a felony. In other words, you can be charged with maiming.  Pits have bad reps already, why would you want it to attack?

Not something I would advise teaching a pitbull to do. I had one for a long time (see my avatar!) and I found that when he got into a fighting type of mode, it was very hard to get him to calm back down.  The breed already has a horrible reputation thanks to what man has bred and taught them to do, so I think you will only be perpetuating the problem. Also, that is an incredibly irresponsible thing to think of.  You are held just as accountable for what you make your dog do, as you would be if you used a handheld weapon on someone (not to mention the possible repercussions your dog would face). At least you won't lose your life if you get into a fight. It is a very real possibility that if such a thing should occur, your dog would be euthanized. It is unfortunate that people with so little foresight tend to be very attracted to the breed.

I think you will find that your dog is naturally inclined to defend you and your house. Hopefully you will never see this behaviour because you will never be attacked. But if you are unlucky, your dog will pitch in for you without encouragement. Training to attack will make the dog dangerous, because it could mistake a sound or an innocent gesture for the "attack" command. This is why army dogs are put to sleep when they retire - they cannot be safely rehomed after being taught to attack people.

Training pit bulls to attack is the reason why these dogs have earned the reputation of being dangerous dogs. If you were to train your puppy to attack, how could you ever be certain that your dog would never attack a child, or your neighbor, or yourself. How about training your dog to be friendly, obedient, and a credit to its ancestry. Maybe someday the breed will again enjoy the good reputation it once had and you will be one owner who can take credit for helping a noble breed.

We own several pittbulls that are traied guard dogs, and I know for sure they will never attack anybody. It all epends on the training you give them. Dont diss this breed because of bad owners

Please do not teach your pitbull to attack there is no need. Just being a pitbull will intimidate most people. I work everyday to change the publics opinion of the breed training your pitbull to attack will harm the entire breed. Love and spoil your dog if ever he needs to protect you chances are he will without being trained to attack.

Listen to these people. They are not lying to you. If you train them to attack, one day they may decide you are not alpha anymore and seek to challenge you... You .... Or one you care about, will lose.

Wow, I can't believe you would want to train your Pit to attack on command. Whatever reason you think you have, I assure you its not legitimate. If you need protection, hire a bodyguard. A dog is a responsibility, much like a child is. Would you teach your son to attack on command? It is extremely irresponsible and short-sighted. You shouldn't be allowed a dog.

It is not a good idea to do that! If your dog attacks someone in the US, they will put it down. Also, if you have small kids in the house it might seriously injure or even kill them! Have you never seen the news!
