The yellow color of the vomit is bile; digestive juices found in the stomach. Outcome depends upon the cause of the symptoms. Some causes of vomiting like toxicity, kidney failure, and neoplasia can be fatal. Other causes of vomiting like dietary indiscretion, stress, and inflammatory bowel disease are not fatal. Cats can also develop a secondary problem called hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) when they stop or are unable to eat--this is serious and can be fatal.
