Most of the time a cat will spit up either clear or yellowish fluid. If you have an indoor cat, you might want to go outside and get some grass for it to eat. They like it, and seem to quit spitting up after that.
It could also have a hairball built up, and it's just trying to get rid of it. Brush your cat daily for about 2 weeks and see if that helps. Also, if the cat keeps doing it, or starts spitting up blood or becomes lethargic, then you need to take it to the vet. Good luck.
