My dog is 16.  Just brought her home from the vet because she was eating everything she could find including bags ( paper and plastic) carpeting, paper, tissue, licking the carpets and floors in the house.  Her stomach was bloated. They gave her meds to get rid of the gas and gave her raglan for two days but she's back to doing the same thing and she's coughing and gagging a lot.   What can I do?

Is your dog crate trained?  How old is the dog?  Dogs typically will eat grass to make their selves feel better but not everything in sight.  If your dog is eating things when you are away from him he may have some separation issues.  If that is the case crating a dog can help that problem and keep the dogs safe.  A dog eating things it should isn't just frustrating for you it is also dangerous  for the dog.  If you do choose to use a crate to prevent your dog from eating things it shouldnt remember that the maximum crate time should be no more then 8 hours.

Maybe your dog is really hungry, maybe a huge metabolism, or maybe he is really sick. Has he been eating something that he wasn't supposed to eat?
