Maybe, if you got it from a pet store it might be shy around humans. I only know of few pet stores that have animals that are "human friendly." My suggestion to you is to let your hammies trust grow in you. For the first few days, put your hand down in the cage and let him/her sniff and crawl on your hand. I would suggest picking him up just yet. After a few days it might get your scent. Try and scoop up your hammy. If it is startled that try again later. NOW, if you have had your hammy for a long time and just now it started showing fear, then you must have hurt it or yelled in his/her furry little face. Repeat this trusting process and he/she SHOULD gain trust again/to you. Hope this helps!!! -Taylor
Well you can try putting bits of toilet paper under your clothes for the day and then in the evening rip it up and put it in the cage so tha hamster can make bedding from it. It should get your scent and come to you when it sees you. If that doesnt work try putting food beside your hand into the cage.the hamster should eat tha food.the next day put the food in your hand. It will come and eat out of your hand.hope this works for you
Well mabaye you can try letting him,her sniff you evevry day don't pick it up just yet do that for the past 3 days then on the 3rd day see if it will go on your hand if it dose then your in luck but if not your just going to do the sniffing hand bit all over again thats all I got so good luck
Some hamsters don't like getting picked up, accept it. Maybe it's not tame yet?
Try to pet him, feed him out of your hand, make him happy. Go get him a stick and make sure there's no bark on it and let him play on it or chew or get him a treat, but don't try to hold him or pick him up and be as nice as you can to him. Good luck!!!!
At first when you try to pick him up he shakes because he or her doesn't know what it is try stroking him first then slowly lift him or her up. Thats what I did.
Maybe it doesn't like you?
