Hamsters have very short gestation and can become pregnant while nursing a litter. Gestation in hamsters can be of 16-18 days. Signs of pregnancy appear after 10 days of pregnancy. These signs are

1. Weight gain
2. Nesting behavior
3. Start to store food
4. Aggressive
5. Territorial
6. Visible nipples

So, if your hamster was in heat, mated and showing above mentioned signs then she is pregnant.

my hamster died a while ago by giving birth and she was pregnent, basically they sleep a lot real a lot there tummy gets wider, and when you clean the cage you will see your hamster food all pilled up next to were she sleeps, and mostly when you put the male hamster and female hamster together they will fight because the female feels unwanted and threatened, that was all the things what hamster does when it's pregnant if she is pregnant and has babies good luck.. Enjoy! I hope I helped! :)

Hamster pregnancies only last about 2 weeks, and you won't notice anything for the first week.  She will put a little weight on, start building a big nest and become quite guarding of her cage.  Clean her out a day or two before she gives birth but don't change her bedding at this point.  When she gives birth you must leave her alone in a quiet stress free spot.  Don't clean her out for 2-3 weeks - let her get on with caring for the babies otherwise she may eat them.  At about 4-5 weeks, you need to split the babies into the different sexes and put them into cages for females and males.  By 6-8 weeks they will start fighting and can kill each other so at this point they will need separate cages.  Hope that helps.  Wheatgerm with water is a good food to put in a bowl when she's given birth and the babies can eat this also from a couple of weeks. Good luck

Do you have a Habit Trail? It' he plastic cage that connects rooms through tubes. This is a great way for her to have her own room away from the male. As she starts gestating, she will begin to nest (gathering items and making a secluded area); her stomach will also begin to get bigger. She won't be as active as before. She'll also appear tired.

The only way to tell this is to observe the hamster. A pregnant hamster exhibits active behaviour. She also tries to build a nest – they might collect bits and pieces of cloth and pile them up in a corner where they could also hide food under it. A bump is also noticeable in the hamsters belly three to five days before delivery.

Well try to pick her up and if she looks fatter and her stomach feels like hard then she is probably pregnant my hamster is pregnant 2 and she will stay in a certain corner and eat and drink then sleep all day until her pups come out but don't touch them till 3 weeks

Once it hits a certain point you will feel little bumps which feel slightly like tiny potatoes. Be careful when you feel for them because it could harm the babies, and you hamster may become nippy and bite at your fingers or anything that gets close to her.

You can tell if your hamster is pregnant because it will sleep a lot more and will make a little bed in the corner and it will want a lot more attention and eat more than normal..and you should hold it more often and give it clean bedding more often and give it a bit more food than normal and a couple of days before it gives birth give the cage a really good clean because you won't be able to clean the cage for a while to find more information go on

I recently bought two russian dwarf hamsters from pets at home and I was told they were both girls , but 3 days later I noticed that one of them was getting fatter and was eating more and the days after she started fighting with my other hamster so I put them in separate cages but I don't know if my hamster is pregnant or not but I don't know who to contact as my mum doesn't believe that she is pregnant so I thought she was just getting fat but I guess I will just have to wait and see

Sleeping through the day is normal since hamsters are nocturnal creatures. However, if it sleeps through the night as well, you might want to check on it or take it to the vet. Make sure that the cage is not near an air-conditioning vent as this can lead to lots of sleep, followed by death (speaking from my own hamster experiences).

She might be if she's getting larger then I think she is! Take her to a proper vet and get her checked out. But if she is then you will soon have lots of little hamsters running around the cage!!!

As the first and second answers said they are both right. Because my hamster did the same thing though I did not even think of asking a vet to come and check. If you gave your hamster a little house for it to play in and sleep in then the nest will probable be in the house. The little house I gave my hamster has two openings the first opening is a walk-in. The second opening has a latter and it goes up top. My hamster made it under the latter so may be your hamster might be doing the same thing.

I have two female hamsters both in different cages. When I picked Latte up today her stomach felt bigger then usual. I don't think its hard, it might actually sound gross but it seems a little mushy. Not hard what so ever. I'm not sure if she sleeps a lot. She usually sleeps during the day and then at night shes up. I don't think her eating changed, I usually put food in the cage and will have to fill it and the water doesnt leak and theres rarely any water left so I pretty sure shes drinking. She sleeps in a corner under her wheel cuddled up with bedding around her. Shes the only hamster in her cage and there is no male what so ever. Can someone please help me.

well It could be or it could just be that it is not getting enough exercise in the cage . Or it could be because you are putting to much food in and the hamster is bored and just keeps eating it .

Hope I Helped !!
