Milk can develop in the days to 1-2 weeks before giving birth.  Milk production can also occur with a pseudopregnancy (false pregnancy).  Gestation in dogs lasts 63-66 days.  If you are unsure your dog is pregnant have her examined by a veterinarian.  An x-ray can be taken to confirm pregnancy and estimate the number of puppies.

It may be today. Has it been 63 days since conception? Dogs usually don't produce milk until they are getting ready to give birth and sometimes even after they give birth.

Her colostrum usually makes an appearance usually a few days or so before birth. Colostrum provides the puppies with the anti-bodies and protection they need to make it through the early stages of life (immune system). It also helps them get rid of the dry fecal matter in the intestines called meconium. Colostrum is EXTREMELY important in the development of a healthy puppy. After 3 or 4 days the actual milk will appear. The composition of the milk changes throughout the nursing period to accommodate what the bodies of those nursing need during those time frames.

The colostrum generally comes in anywhere from about a week up to sometimes not even until the pups are born so you should be close. The way you actually tell when your pup is in labor is that the temperature drops to around 98. The pups arrive within 24 hours of that (usually sooner) or there's a problem. As the colostrum is in, you should start taking her temp. Now. Their actual milk does not come in until 3 or 4 days after the pups are born. She should be checked out within 24 hours of giving birth to be sure there isn't anything retained to cause infection (if the number of pups is fewer than those counted on the ultrasound or x-ray that's a good indicator, lol) and that everything went well in general. Good luck!

After birth about 1 month and then you should start feeding it puppy wet food and puppy milk don't feed them human milk cause that gives them runny poos.
