Your dog can be pregnant for 63-66 days before giving birth to puppies. You should get her abdominal ultrasound after 50 days of gestation to know the possible date of delivery, birth defects and possible litter size. When she will approach to labor, she will show some sign before start of labor. These signs can start 8-48 hours before actual start of labor pain. These signs are
  1. Reduction in rectal temperature below 100 F
  2. Agitation
  3. Loss of appetite
  4. Nesting behavior
  5. Frequent visits to nest
  6. Restlessness and pacing
When labor starts, she can shake due to pain caused by uterine contraction and strain to deliver puppies. This condition can last for 6-24 hours then first puppy will be born, Ideally, you should get help from your vet for whelping in your dog.
