First of all don't SHOCK YOUR DOG ITS CRUEL.. If they are whining it is because their bodies are telling them to mate and its such a strong sense that it is all the think, there mind is consumed with mating. Its all the scent. Bare through it.give it 7 days and it should stop.
Ive a female german shepherd 14 months n shes been on heat for 2 weeks( second season) , bleeding all over and its only now shes starting whining. I feel soooo sorry for her when she looks at me wi sad eyes, I know the pain shes going through so peace n quiet n lots of fuss is gettin her through x
Female dogs in heat have behavioral changes during their heat. Animals in heat are not fun to be around. Spaying your dog will solve this problem.
Whining can also be a sign of discomfort or pain. If you think your dog may be experiencing discomfort she needs to be examined by a veterinarian to determine the source. Uterine infections (pyometras) do not usually occur at the same time as heat cycle but should be ruled out and can be very serious.

Have him neutered. He is doing what comes instinctively to him. There is a female in heat and he wants to mate. There's nothing really you can do to calm him down. You could try giving the female some chlorphyll liquid capsules in her food to cut down on the scent she gives off during her heat cycle. It doesn't eliminate the scent, just scales it back slightly... But if he is in the same house as your female, he will still probably whine. Sorry...
Best of luck - I know what it's like! Well, I used to - my boy's been neutered since... No whining, no crying, he doesn't even notice she's in the room. :)

Poor male and poor female. They are full of passionate desire that all animals strongly experience at mating seasons .as it is restricted to these times, unlike humans. It is natural . He would stop in time if you had your female spayed but he would still get the scent of other bitches whose owners have not bothered to "fix". The best way to have two contented dogs is to have them both neutered. Please make an appointment with your vet. Two one off payments for a happier life for them and for you too.
My Female dachshund is in heat and my male is driving me nuts with the whimpering...I keep thinking he's hurt or something...I just wish she'd hurry up and get over being in heat...
7 days? Are you kidding, I wish. My male weimeraner has been whining tough for 9 days straight and I know for sure it is because of the dogs down the street. He eats and pottys very regular and takes every opportunity to run off when he can.
I was really hoping that there would be something listd here that I could do to ease his suffering (and mine) How annoying, I love him dearly but this is ridiculous.

Get her fixed so that she doesn't go into heat, and he will quit doing this. Hope this helps.
Well, either mate it, or get it fixed. X
Either get her fixed, or get a shock collar. That's the only way to get her to stop.
