My yorkie had the big deep brown spots on the groin area like brown water droplets under the skin and was itching a lot. Needless to say it scared me, he is such a good dog. When I further examined him I realized that he had fleas and was a bit scruffy. I gave him a bath and a dose of Frontline and now it has been a week and the spots are almost gone!

I have a yorkie that gets these. These brown spots are topical skin infections, typically from fleas but mine got them most recently from being allergic to a shampoo. It needs to be treated with antibiotics and a benzoyl medicated shampoo. Please see a vet ASAP.
Has your dog been out in the sun? I would contact your vet and see what they say. They can give you the best info. On humans if you get some brown spots on your body, it could mean skin cancer or some other types of illness due to your liver. However, humans and dogs are totally different so it may not me anything or it could be something. I would call your vet and see what they think, they can give you the best accurate advice. Good luck and take care.
You can try using a liquid dish washing soap like Dawn or Palmolive to clean this brown material off your dog. Sap can be difficult to remove. You can try using a small amount of mineral oil to loosen the material to loosen the brown stuff then use the dish washing soap. Do not use harsh chemicals--like paint removal, paint thinner, or any harsh soap or cleaning product. If you are unsure if a product is safe contact your veterinarian before use.
If this is an injury, scabs, or lesion directly affecting your pet's skin, have your dog examined by a veterinarian to determine the cause and start appropriate treatment.
