Jsut got a 6 week old Rotti puppy home to discover he had fleas, After doing a little research online and calling the vet at PetSmart, everything and everyone seemed to agree on two main things;
1: Don't use chemicals of any sort on puppys under 8 weeks of age.
2: Dawn dish soap kills fleas and washes away clean thus not causing thier skin to dry out and prevents the animal from licking any chemicals.

Final result was: I killed more fleas on my Pup then I thought he had on him using dawn and a flea comb.

P.S. Vet does not recommened bathing a young puppy more than once every two weeks.

I hope this helps!

Dawn dish washing soap is one of the best ways to kill fleas. Flea shampoos are no good.

The most you can do to get rid of them without going to the vet or getting medications is to give him a nice long bath. Make sure to scrub his fur. Lifting is fur up and scrubbing with a sponge or should help. Otherwise I suggest taking him to the vet they should have an ointment, or medication that get's rid of the fleas.

I found this online.
'd run out to a pet store and buy a flea comb (very fine-toothed comb, which probably won't cost much at all). Bathe the pup. Wet him down and then form a ring of suds around his neck, then wash the rest of his body. If you don't make a sudsy ring around his neck, the fleas will flee to his head. Once he's dried, comb him thoroughly with the flea comb. It will "catch" any remaining fleas. You'll need to have a small disposable container filled with alcohol nearby to dump the fleas in to kill them.

Such a coincidence. I have a 6-week-old pup that has fleas. What I'm doing is taking an old toothbrush, combing through her fur, picking them out, and flushing them. (Most of them are near her head.) Then I give her a nice long bath.

Never use chemical warfare on a puppy less than 8 wks of age.  Their fragile immune systems CANNOT handle it. Opt for natural remedies, always check with your vet first.
