When a hamster gives birth it can have between 1-15 babies. After the birth you shouldn't disturb either the mother or the babies. Leave the cage in a dark room and make as little noise as possible. If the mother is young she may neglect or eat the babies. If she abandons them within the first two weeks they probably won't survive and there isn't much you can do to save them. DO NOT TOUCH THE BABIES!! If the mother smells the human scent on the babies she will eat them.
