No! But both species share a common ancestor.

No, we probably evolved from Apes. We share a common ancestor with Chimpanzees, but we did not evolve from any known "monkey" .

Humans do not originate in any of the living species of monkey. But humans do have ancestors in common, and we belong to the same order which is primates. The order of primates (apes) is subdivided into the wet-nosed primates and the dry-nose primates. A suborder of the dry-nosed primates is divided further into New World monkeys and the Old World monkeys. Old World monkeys do not have a tail and they form the family of anthropoid apes. This comprises the smaller gibbons and the larger apes, which are further divided into orangutans, gorillas, chimpanzees, and human beings.

So, human beings did not technically evolve from monkeys, gorillas or from any other known primate. Human beings belong to the same order of primates which is the Old World primates that contain gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans. Humans and monkeys have ancestors in common, but humans did not evolve from apes.

"And if humans really came from monkeys, why is it that there are still monkeys living and didn't evolve to become humans" WOW, just really think about that for a second. That is EXACTLY the same as saying 'and if sharks evolved from fish than why is it there are still fish' or 'if snakes evolved from lizards why are there still lizards' and sand comes from rocks but wait there are still rocks. For the love of God - yes that was on purpose - pick up a book - preferably one not written by men that had have less intelligence than modern day five year old. Also the 'monkeys' that modern day humans evolve from HAVE evolved...

'In zoos, there are still monkeys that lived years ago and still don't become humans. Simply, we are created by God in His own image.' You do not understand evolution and have absolutely no right to discredit it offhand like you do - I believe that is what many people call ignorant. Evolution is - generally - the process of a species adapting to particular circumstances, through SLIGHT changes in the genetic code from generation to generation. What most people without an education/or with a religious bias (I am looking at you Donits) don't/can't/won't do is understand that description e.g. A monkey is not going to change into an ape in a single generation, it may take a thousand years for it to make this transition (if it's tail is no longer used because of the living circumstances, than each generation MIGHT have a SLIGHTly shorter tail than the last - we are talking mm's here). Ever heard the saying ' use it or lose it'? Besides the fact humans have tails... What crazy reason would God have for creating humans with tails (admittedly small as they are)?

A classic and undeniable proof of evolution is yourself. When you lift weights, get less sleep, do running and go in the sun, your body adapts to these stimuli by creating more muscle, developing a tan, larger heart etc. These resulting changes have an effect on your genes that you pass down to your children, obviously in tiny changes, though changes non the less (if you exposed yourself to sun on a regular basis, your son will probably be born with SLIGHTly darker skin than you - humans would be in a poor state if they didn't adapt)

Also take into consideration the fact that evolution isn't trying to explain how life came into existence on Earth - although it has to a degree - it's simply trying to explain something that happens to all life. In that sense it's not at odds with religion, however it would definitely give credence to the scientific findings that the Earth is billions of years old and not 6000, which to me as an atheist sounds so astronomically idiotic I cannot begin to understand the people that believe it. I understand the faith argument but it is a poor way to govern a world. I would prefer to go to hell than worship a 'God' that requires blind faith, animal sacrifices (see old testament), killing of heathen (despite what the ten commandments say ,God was a strong advocate of killing non believers and raping there wives and daughters and making slaves out of them) and other nonsense.

No! There are many reasons to prove that we, humans, didn't came from monkeys. Humans pollute their surroundings that can kill others while monkeys don't even thought to do that. And if humans really came from monkeys, why is it that there are still monkeys living and didn't evolve to become humans. In zoos, there are still monkeys that lived years ago and still don't become humans. Simply, we are created by God in His own image.

That's not a good argument. Evolution doesn't mean extermination. Just because monkeys survived doesn't mean we didn't come from them. And besides, zero scientists say we came from monkeys. They instead believe we evolved from apes which in turn evolved from monkeys. And accepting evolution and being a Christian don't have to be separate. I'm a Christian that accepts evolution as fact.

Guest if it takes thousands of years for monkeys to "evolve" into humans, then shouldn't some of the millions of monkeys in this world be drastically different then other monkeys if they have been around for thousand of years.  Shouldn't some of the close to extinct species of animals be drastically changing or produce offspring that resemble close to a human?  Out of the tens of billions of animals that are born every year, how come there aren't any gene altercations that have shown that it is possible for animals to become like humans?   It amazes me that people consider evolution a fact and throw out the possibility of creationism.  I am open to evolution, but I personally believe in God.

Actually monkeys are incredibly different from each other. There are many many many species of monkeys. And there are alterations every generation that scientists have witnessed using microscopes. Evolution has been proven. Even the Pope accepts evolution.
