If the mother is not feeding the babies, that is a huge problem. Wild birds do not like to be disturbed while feeding and it can put them off. However, if you are sure that the bird is not feeding the young anymore you can do a number of things to help out, though you must be certain that she is dead as otherwise it can cause a lot of trouble for the birds. It is also illegal in some areas to tamper with wild birds, depending on the species.

Beforehand keep an eye on the nest for six or seven hours as sometimes birds see a predator and won't come near the nest. They may fly over and drop in food from a height to the small birds and you would never be aware.

Unless it is the last possible option you should not feed them, especially if you are not a professional in the area. This is because you could do more harm than good as you may feed them the wrong food, or you may feed them too little or too much. If you do have to feed them as you've clarified that they are not being fed.

The best thing for new birds to eat is a concoction of food that we can make up. As these are wild birds however, they may not eat the food that you give them.

Concoctions can be made from a variation of things and should be fed to the birds through an eye dropper as they are small and it is the most familiar way for birds to eat as their mothers feed them in a similar way.

They must be fed crushed up worms every two hours from dawn till dusk, also they will need water at each feeding. Bottled water through an eye dropper. They will sleep at dusk, and wake again at dawn for the feeding ritual. It is almost impossible to keep one wild bird alive much less an whole nest full. Mother nature tends her own, good luck doll.

We had a nest of four babies on our porch.  The mother died after flying into a glass door.  We fed the babies soft, watered down dog food that we blended up in a blender.  We used a dropper and fed them every two hours or so.  They seem to be thriving - just not real sure how to teach them to fly when the time comes for that - LOL.  Good luck!
