I've heard that you can feel the kittens moving about a week before the Queen is due to give birth. I have adopted a rescue Queen, and only in the last few days have I felt her kittens move. I don't know exactly when shes due, but the vet said she had about 3 weeks left ( that was 2 weeks ago)..so that would add up

Hope your kittens gave you much joy!

In a pregnant cat you must be very careful not to handle her to too firmly, while trying to feel the kittens.  You can feel them moving in the last 2-3 weeks of pregnancy. It's an amazing feeling.   Watch her carefully in those last weeks as you can see the kittens moving around while the mother is lying still.

Around 6 or 7 weeks, and cats are usually pregnant for 9 or up to 10 weeks.

Uterine enlargement can be palpated by day 25-30 days.  On x-ray uterine enlargement can be noted sometime between day 21 and 42.  The fetal skeleton calcifies at day 45 and can be seen on x-rays.  This is the most accurate way to estimate the number of kittens.  At this time they are easily felt.  Usually around week 4 the abdomen notably starts distending.
Ultrasound can be used to diagnose pregnancy at day 26 and later can be used to measure the fetuses and try to estimate the due date.
