A few things can make a chicken quit laying. The biggest reason is day length. When the days get shorter the hens will quit laying. To prevent this put a light in the hen house and make sure there is 12 hours of light a day. A lack of food and water also will cause them to quit laying. When chickens molt which is once a year they will quit laying also.
