Generally, the amount of dogs born to one litter is half the number of nipples on the animal that bears them (in dog's case, 10 nipples means roughly 5 puppies). This of course is just an average, so expect more than 5 (I'd prepare for 7, just to be safe). This applies to all dogs, including pitbulls.
Hi I'm a breeder ....if you pit has started labor signes heavy panting a pushing like shes got to go you know ...ok when you see signs of the first pup in the birth canal with in 30 min she should have a pup if not there could be a stuck pup...now there could be a 3hr window between pups but the gen rule is after 4hr from her last pup if you don't see another shes done ...this is why back yard breeding is so irresponsible ,if you know your dog is with pups take her to your vet for a ultrasound you will know how meany pups to expect when the time comes and you will not be guessing if your dog is dieing with a stuck puppies
Right now my brothers pitbull is having 14 pitbull puppies and she is still having them right now
