Why Does My Pet Turtle Dig?

They dig to make burrows for their eggs, and then cover it back up. How long have you had the turtle? Because if you haven't had it for a long time, there might be a chance that it is pregnant. If not, then I would just chalk it up to boredom. Hope this helps.

It is natural for them to do this as this is one way they like to hide and stay cool and they also barry their eggs this eay.it will be ok

my turtle is digging all the time too. does this mean it needs a bigger tank? does it need somewhere to hid in? should I take out all the gravel? what do I put over the filter system if I take out the gravel? I think I need a little help. thanks.

it is totally ok!!! don't take out the gravel!!! how big is you tank??? try putting a cave type thing in your tank!! he might want a place to go into!!! but it is natural for them to digg!! if you need more info i am going to ask that you ask for my friendship!!!

My turtle is also digging..  Just recently, I think he might be growing, I'm not sure. Hope he's ok

Your turtle may be a pregnant female. To check look on belly if there is a dent it is a boy if not its a girl. If it is a girl it might be pregnant and about ready to give birth
