Your turtles can mate in the water but will not lay thier eggs. The eggs need oxygen to develop and by instinct, the turtle will not lay in water. She will try to get out of the water to dig a hole to bury the eggs in. If she is in the water when she lays them, you will have to take them out straight away and put them into an incubator. Alternatively if you leave them, they will most likely die. If you are unsure about breeding, contact your vet.
