He could just be "crying" in excitement, or it may be a sprain of some kind, or even a slight stress fracture. Try and prevent him from jumping for awhile to give it time to heal if it is an injury. Immediately go done to his level when you come in (which in his case would be pretty much laying down ; ), or immediately pick him up so he doesn't have time to jump around when he's excited.
