Kennel cough and upper respiratory infections are possible in puppies. The breathing problem is concerning--this can be secondary to upper respiratory infection, pneumonia, or secondary to other disease or pain. An increased respiratory rate can become serious pending the cause; difficulty breathing should always be treated immediately. Puppies do not have a fully developed immune system and are more sensitive to infection. They also do not have a big reserve so the secondary complications of dehydration, hypoglycemia, and hypothermia. Seek veterinary attention for this little puppy.
