My 2 yr jack russell has them on his ears and he lost his hair off his ears too but I went to the vets a few times with him and he told me that it was a mite that dogs have in there inner body and he has advocate drops on the back his neck once a month( for 3 months ) and just plain moisturiser on the skin like double base and it seems to of cleared - good luck
