Vaginal bleeding in all dogs including pit bull during heat cycle starts during first stage. At this stage, swelling of vagina takes place first and then bleeding starts. This bleeding can last for 7-10 days. Female dogs don't like company of male dogs for mating during this stage. When bleeding stops or reduced then second stage of heat cycle begins called estrus. Mating is possible at this stage when she shows flagging which is invitation for mating to male dogs. If she becomes pregnant then her pregnancy can be of an average 9 weeks. In case of no pregnancy, she will be in heat again after 24 weeks.
