Most Pit bulls stay in heat or estrus for an average of three weeks or 21 days; this happens every six months. You can get free or low cost spaying or neutering done for pit bull type dogs, so you may want to consider that to avoid mess and to stop the risk of pregnancy; your dog can be spayed while on heat but it might cost a bit more.

For Bitches you can count the 21 days on heat from the first day that you saw blood and the first week is usually the heaviest time for discharge. In the second week the blood will become a less bright color and will usually lessen. During this proestrus period she will be very receptive to male dogs as her vulva swells. By the last week, she may or may not continue to breed but she is still in breeding season. You should keep a female pit bull away from males for at least 28 days while in season to avoid pregnancy if you don't have her spayed. She may have personality changes during this period with possible anxiety or irritability. They normally have a first heat cycle at
around six to nine months.

Heat cycle in adult dogs is referred to a period during which female dog is sexually active and can become pregnant. This period can be of 3-4 weeks with an average of 3 weeks in all dogs including pit Bull. Dogs usually have two heat cycles in a year.

When dogs become adult, they get their first heat cycle at the age of 6-8 months. Heat cycle in dogs starts with swelling of vulva and vaginal bleeding that can last for 7-10 days. After this, bleeding tends to decline and dog show flagging, atypical behavior that indicates that she is ready for mating. Breeding take place during this stage.

If dogs become pregnant then her pregnancy can last for an average of 63 days. If mating is not successful then she will come again in to heat after 4-5 months.

Average age at which a female pit bull can have first heat cycle is 6-8 months. Heat cycles in all dogs can be of three weeks. Usually, all dogs including pit bull have two heat periods in a year. Gap between two heat periods is not dependent on pregnancy. A dog can come in to heat after every six months either pregnant during last heat cycle or not.

It is generally recommended not to breed dogs in first heat cycle. Breeding should be avoided until complete physical maturity and fitness certificate from vet. More better is not to breed your dogs at all and get them spayed or neutered.

Well the heat period of Pitbull female dogs lasts for about 3 weeks. Your dog is going through the first stage of her heat cycle I think. It follows the bloody discharge and will last for up to 14 days. Then the dog enters the breeding stage.

As with kids dogs, especially Pit bulls, like to try to push their boundaries.  So I am assuming u have a puppy and if not you have a lot of work ahead.  Give her the same slipper on the hind leg every time she chews something and only give her one hit.  Say 'NO' loud and proudly and as a statement together with the slipper.  You need to sound in control.  When u leave with her make sure that you walk out your door before her and if she tries to go ahead of you get her to stop and get in the house.  She'll learn soon enough that u are the boss and that she needs to stop chewing things.  The NO can be transfered to another training exercise for her too.  Try getting more substantial chew toys for her.  I get Nylabone for mine and they make some super strong ones that my one loves.  Often we are understocked as owners for what they need and they tell us by chewing everything.  I speak dog quite well now.  There is a pricey oil u can get to put on items that u don't want chewed that puts the puppy off.  I stick to string or rope bone toys(tug) or Nylabone and balls(tennis is her favourate)  Hope this was helpful.

Sometimes you may have to use a slipper but I prefer not to do it.  All it takes is for you to be angry once and chase the fluffy guy around and take ur aggression out on the dog.  A dog that's scared of it's owner is not a happy dog.  Try posative reinforcement and don't reward with treats everytime (use a fav toy or give them a huge cuddle)  Be persistant and don't take your aggro out on the doggie.

I have a full blooded blue nose, shes awesome, so many personalities. Unfortuntaly, I can not get her to stop chewing stuff. Everything, Pens phones, papers, shoes, animals (stuffed). Ive tryed all kinds of punishment. A cadge. She chewed the cadge, got out a metal one, so I don't want to put her back in there because she did not like it. Ive beat her you know not like beat her but ive let her know and ive yelled I'm getting frustrated, she just wont stop chewing stuff.
