Centipedes can grow to be as long as 6 inches when they become adults. Their body has many segments and they are nocturnal, they become active during the night. The word centi means 100 and pede means legs, they are called so because of their large number of legs ranging between 15 to177. Centipedes feed on small insects like spiders etc but at times they can also be seen feeding on plants. One interesting thing about centipedes is that they do not eat dead insects, they only accept the food if it’s living. Some foods include earthworms, crickets, caterpillars, cockroaches and beetles.

They do eat some bugs, but they are at the bottom of the food chain so they will usually eat decomposers too.
