Having babies is due to reproductive system and an important way to propagate ahead. This way of propagation is present in all species. Dogs become adult after 6-8 months of age. At this age, females get their first heat cycle and males are also able to mount females. During the heat cycle, when dog show flagging, mating takes place. During mating, tie that can last for 2-30 minutes is possible but not as necessary part. If dogs become pregnant then there will be gestation period of 63 days, otherwise, heat cycle can last for 3 weeks.

For all pet dogs, it is not recommended to breed them until they become physically mature. This can take some time. As a rule, all dogs should get fitness certificate from the vet before breeding. Some of these fitness tests are possible at 2 years of age. So, dogs should be used for breeding after 2 years but it will be more than good to spay or neuter the dogs.
