Well just tonight I noticed my pet Rat Anya acting weird. She was dragging something round out of my sight and into a hidey hole in her cage.

Naturally I investigated and found her chewing on a freshly dead wild mouse who had snuck into their cage. Blood indicated a struggle so I'm glad I didn't see the actual attack.

Mousie had no face and Anya was quite merrily munching.

RATS KILL MICE AND EAT THEM! DON'T PUT THEM TOGETHER

I have several mice and several rats. One of the mother mice recently died and her babies had just weened, and I put them in with one of my rats, who lives alone due to the fact she has some nerve issues and can't be in high places in case she falls off. (My rat is about a year old), and I put the babies (about 6 weeks old) in with her, and two new baby rats I rescued the same day, and they all live together. The baby mice act just like the rats and clean the rats, and the rats clean them like they're baby rats.

Don't try to stick two adults of different species together, and don't touch a rat, then touch pinky mice, because the mom will kill the pinky mice, but no, PET RATS do not eat PET MICE. I can't vouch for wild ones. Fancy rats will generally not eat fancy mice, unless you have a particularly mean or territorial rat on your hands. Do not put mice with in-tact males. They're best with females.

If i got a mouse and slowly introduced it to my quiet, slightly lonely 'fancy' Female rat who is now 2 years+ could they ever live together??
Everyone else seems to say the rat will kill and eat the mouse without hesitation, personally i'm unsure. Do you think it's worth a go?

Yes, indeed pet rats do eat pet mice--even though there may be some rare exceptions.

When I was in kindergaten (this was 33 years ago -- yikes), I thought my pet rat, Snowball, and pet mouse, Speedy, would like to play together; so I left the two on my dresser/bookshelf to "bond", while I went outside to play with my neighbor.

When I returned home, I found Speedy, my mouse, EVERYWHERE--on all three levels of shelves.

Since I was so young, my mother quickly responded to my cries of fright and shock and immediately cleaned up the horribly mutilated mouse parts, but the damage had been done to my innocent eyes.  I can surely tell you that it wasn't a pretty sight.

Well, technically, rats would even eat fellow rats, decomposing rats, mice, etc. So in reality, nothing is stopping a rat from eating a smaller rodent, like a mouse.

If you are talking about pets, even if the rat doesn't eat the mouse, it will most likely cause it environmental discomfort and stress.
