Cat lovers and owners should know the basic characteristics of their pet. For one cats are very independent by nature and that their activity is not guided by orders but by their own instinct. They do what they like and when they like and it is because of this nature that it is said cats cannot be domesticated for human needs unlike dogs and cattle.

Cats are intelligent and have been observed pondering and manipulating as to how a lid can be opened or a switch of music system is switched off.

Cats are also attention seeking creatures that is why it follows the owner in and around the house. Cats are conscious of their rights and a little encouragement and this perceptive observant creature will at once take a leap on to the lap and remain there for a long time.

If tackled properly cats can display so much affection that it can get overwhelming at times.
