My cat is exactly the same. Just had her to 2 vets and they found a tumor in the lower spine.Nothing can be done because of where it is.It cost £1000 but at least we know what is wrong with her. They have put her on Prednisolone and doses of Vetergesic to help ease the pain for a short while.

The same exact thing is happening to my cat. We took him to the vet and they said it is probably a blood clot. :( he has takes blood thinners every 12 hours. You need to go to the vet immediately! Pray for my cat his name is "Buttons" (male)

Sorry to hear that! How old is your cat? Sorry, my answer may be full of questions but, Does it seem to be in A LOT OF PAIN??  It may be best to Euthanise the cat, trust me, I don't believe in putting an animal down for no reason, but if there's not much you can do to help, and he is hurt and suffering than perhaps that's the best. It doesn't hurt them, its an injection and they fall asleep. Please don't take it as if I don't care for animals, I do. They are my passion in life, but I hate to see something suffer, And that seems pretty expensive and still you have no guarantee that's whats wrong with him and you would have spent all that money. Has he been tested for FIP? Its an illness cats get that locks their legs. Try testing him for that before taking any other steps. And again, I'm sorry about him!
