It might also be a urinary tract infection, or something involving that.
My kitten is a year old and is also having a similar problem. She hadn;t had a bowel movement in 3 days, so we took her to the vet hospital. We had her tested for kitty AIDS and leukemia but (thank God) she tested negative. He gave her an IV as well as oral meds to help her have a bowel movement, and she did on the way home (a very small amount which was hard as rock)
She hasn't gone since, but is urinating small amounts in random places, like on my lap or on the kitchen floor. She's also having a lot of trouble walking. She'll take a few very wobbly steps, then fall over., which is my biggest concern. She's barely eating or drinking, and seems to want to be left alone.
We're taking her to a different vets tomorrow to see what's wrong. I'll let you know if a UTI is what's wrong with mine, so hopefully it will help with yours. I suggest that you have him checked for it either way since it is deadly to cats.
Best of luck

He could also have an abcess on his spine, a spinal defect or injury, or a nurological problem, only a vet check can tell you for sure.

It could well be that he's been kicked or run over and has a broken pelvis. Take him to the vet for an x-ray but be prepared to put him down as the vet may tell you it is going to cost a ton of money to fix his problem. Best of luck.

We just got our indoor cat Luke back after being out in the rain, and 99 degree temps for 2 months. You do need to take the cat to get an x-ray, but most importantly the cat needs IV fluids. Luke couldn't walk when we found him. After much needed fluids he is walking more, but walks like a drunk old man and sways from side to side

Ask your vet about a Thiamine (vitamin D) deficency. Giving your cat too much fish, especially tuna, or an improper diet, among other things, causes this. My cat had it, and unfortunately passed away because it was diagnosed too late. There are 4 stages, and if caught within the 1st 3, a full and speedy recovery is probable. As far as I know, it is still treatable within the 4th stage in some cases, so it's always worth a try. The shots and the medicine really aren't expensive, so don't put your cat down without ruling this out. But PLEASE make sure that your cat is looked after 24/7.
Hope this helps, and good luck with everything.

I'd very much take her to the vet. When my cat had temporary nerve damage on his one paw, he wasn't able to walk on it at all, it was simply 'dead'. Luckily, my cats nerves came back in twenty four hours, but the vet trip made sure he wasn't going to lose his paw.

Hi, did you find out what's wrong with your cat?  My cat is also 13 and unable to walk on his back legs.  Blood test are normal and xrays don't show anything.  It would be a great help to know what happend to your cat.  Hope it's OK.

Thanks

Change your cat's diet.  I prefer to give them dried cat foot because it's balanced and give him/her more raw meat.  You can also pour some olive oil over the food

There's a number of things that it could be (pinched nerve, crystals causing a blockage, spinal damage, etc) and he needs to be checked out by a vet ASAP. Make an appointment today if possible.  If any of my cats couldnt walk, I'd be up at the vet just as soon as I could get there (3 minutes drive away)
Let us know how you get on.
All the best...

I had the same problem with my cat before and you must take him to a vet urgently it could be that some crystal blocked bladder and he could literally explode at any moment that is why he is in the litterbox!!!!
