No they usually eat every few hours or so. Do you know how to check the crop? You should go back to wherever you got the bird and have them explain everything (what when and how) since there may have been some misunderstandings. A baby bird can die very easily from improper hand feeding or other care and aside from it being VERY sad most people won't do anything for you (money or another bird) since it was most likely your error unless you pay for a definitive necropsy and prove it was the bird itself. All in all it's better to leave hand feeding to the professionals and get your bird past weaning since so many things can go wrong and it doesn't effect the potential bonds despite what some people think, though your past that now.
