Your dog needs to be re-examined by your veterinarian.  Panting, anorexia, limping, and swelling all tell me your dog is in pain.  This could be from a sprain/strain, sounds like a fracture has been ruled out, arthritis, bony tumor, or joint injury.  A common joint injury in labs is a rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament (the ACL in people).  This injury is only partially responsive to pain medication and anti-inflammatories.
X-rays may need to be repeated and your dog should be placed on additional pain medication.  If your veterinarian is unable to diagnose the problem I would have your dog examined by a veterinary Orthopedic Specialist.

I have seen hernias in this area secondary to trauma. If the swelling is intermittent abdominal contents may be moving in and out. If there is a mass present that changes sizes I would be concerned about a Mast Cell Tumor.
