Constipation in dogs is serious problem and can lead to other gastrointestinal complications if not treated. Symptoms of constipation in dogs are straining to have bowels without result, prolonged gap between bowel movements, stiff stools, bloating, loss of appetite and signs of discomfort during bowel movements. Reason of canine constipation are lack of fiber in the diet, ingestion of bones, rock, garbage and material which can cause obstruction in GI tract, dehydration, intestinal worms and lack of exercise.
To treat constipation, you can use mild laxative, use of supplement diets, Magnesia milk, canned pumpkin, and wheat bran can relieve constipation. Drinking plenty of water and exercise will also help your pet.
