Kittens will shift around on their bellies for the first week or two. Once their eyes open they start moving around better. By the time they are 3 to 4 weeks old they can walk pretty well.

Some walk within a few days, depends, how well they are nursing. It varies like in children. My son never learned to crawl as he found it easier to roll to where he wanted to go and was almost 2 before he walked. We brought him to a specialist who said, your son can walk, he just doesn't want to. Cute. Once we had Xmas chocolates we kept in sideboard. Used to give him one everyday. One day, I forgot to put it back in the drawer. It was so funny because my son hauled himself up, and began to walk away with them, then he realized, hey I can't walk and plopped down on his bum. Then we got him two groovy chairs, one was foam, the other a miniature rocker. He practiced by raising his arms in the air and walk back and forth. Animals are like children and when left to be they will teach themselves soon enough, but only when they are ready
