They get fair press unless they the owner thinks they were unfairly accused of actually biting someone or attacking someone, or killing someone.especially if they have been accused and found guilty in a court of law. Also if they are on the list of aggressive dogs with other breeds that are considered dangerous. As evident on judge joe browns court tv show when he points this out to the owner that happens to be in his court that day accused of not controlling their animal/dog.so it depends on if your the owner who fails to listen to the laws or the person who was/is attacked by the dog the owner feels is not a vicious breed of dog. In other words it depends on if your the person who was harmed/killed by one of these dogs or the owner that says oops my dog atacked someone...again. Here where I live they get one free chance to bite then they are put to sleep after the 2nd time. It doesn't matter if it is on the list of vicious dogs or not. Once they show they will attack a person that's it,they don't get a second chance unless the owner can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt the dog was unduely provoked into attacking/biting.let's just say if your bull terrier came at me or on of the children it would not ba a staffy anymore. In other words a human life or limb is worth more than a dog's life anyday.don't get me wrong I like all dogs ,but I am not going to be a chew toy for any of them. : )
Does anyone own a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, I do, a 2year old bitch, do Staffies get unfair press because they look like Pit Bulls?
A friend of mine has a male Staff and a female Bull...the male is great, the female has a thing for cats - KILL THEM ALL!! But, she's great with people and kids.
They get unfair press over here in the UK due to their ill-founded associations with chavs, dog fighting and anti-social behaviour.Public attacks by the breed especially on children have only added to Staffies' bad rep.
