As long as it is not a native species you can keep one as a pet. You can have them as pets in canada because they are not a canadian animal they were brought here from the states. DO NOT RELEASE IT INTO PONDS. THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW.

You can feed a tadpole boild lettuce and some petstores sell tadpole food now. Once it has 4 legs you can put small insects into the water but make sure all the bugs left after 1 hour are removed from the tank. Once it becomes a frog you need to feed it bigger insect. Also the frog need calcium so you can buy a powder to dust the bugs (crickets) Do not feed a frog anything bigger than the space between its eyes. Your tadpol/frog will need a UVA/UVB light as well. Just remember if your frog survives is can become quite large and you may need to feed it small mice along with bugs. (do not feed pets anything from outside due to pestisides and other harmfull chemicals)

You need to mimic the same sort of enviroment these things live in, do a bit of research into it and know what it will like then I emagine it will be a happy frog and you can release it into your pond once its a bit older
