False Pregnancy is a symptom where non-pregnant female dogs commonly display physical and behavioural signs consistent with pregnancy. This is thought to result from a hormone imbalance. It generally become noticeable 4 to 6 after standing heat and can continue for a number of weeks. Signs may include nesting, mothering inanimate objects, restlessness, irritability, nausea, vomiting, lethargy, frequent urination, abdominal cramps, tender or swollen mammary glands, changes in appetite, picky eating, coprophagia (stool eating), weight-gain, abdominal distension and she may even appear to go into labour.
