Can A Dog Have False Pregnancy?

Sure can, it usually takes place right after their heat.  The dog may even lactate if prompted by a squeaky toy, which sometimes the dog "adopts".
Our boxer / lab mix had multiple false pregnancies, adopting toys, tennis balls, even my sons hiking boots.  She would care for them as if they really were her pups, carrying them to safe places, like behind furniture.  She would curl up around them and try to get them to nurse.  When she would nudge the squeaky toy, her milk would come rushing in.  This could become a problem, she can actually cause herself discomfort by lactating and not expressing the milk.
The false pregnancies will go away when the dog has been fixed.

Yes my pit bull did! If there are any other dogs around that could trigger it. I think mine wanted to have my boyfriends babies! We had 4 male dogs across the street also. Took her to vet to get her spayed and had to wait ...vet said she could be pregnant and had to wait a couple weeks. When we took her back she was fine (from her last menses) and not pregnant and we were able to have her fixed. Vet said could be false pregnancy and it was!!
