Is My Guinea Pig Happy?

Guinea pigs may not have a conscious but they still are aware of people loving and caring for them.  it may not be used to you yet. They take a while. Just keep petting and holding it and feeding it snacks like lettuce and carrots. It should soon begin to act much happier. Just don't hold it too much each day or it may be scared. I'm 9 and I got a ginnie pig and we have had it for at least a week and I'm afraid to pick it up cause I'm afraid it will bite me it will let me pet it in its cage but when I do it makes a noise like a cat purring I need some pointers that a 9 year old can understand
