It’s not possible to tell what kind of spider causes a circular rash site unless it’s examined by an expert. There are about 50,000 varieties of spiders in the world and nearly all of them bite, which is why it may be difficult to self-diagnose a spider bite.

Could It Be A Black Widow Bite?

However, there are different kinds of bites caused by different types of spiders. If the area inside the circular rash is pale, this may be caused by a Black Widow spider, whose bites usually cause a victim to suffer from severe muscle pain and cramps within the next two hours. Other symptoms associated with Black Widow bites are sweating, weakness, headache, vomiting, difficulty breathing, and increased blood pressure.

Who Is Most At Risk?

Those with high blood pressure, children, and the elderly are especially vulnerable from suffering from Black Widow bites, and as soon as symptoms such as muscle pain are felt, victims should go to the hospital right away for professional medical attention.

What Else Could Cause A Rash?

However, many other spiders and insects such as fleas, mosquitoes, flies and chiggers also cause a red circular rash as a result of a bite. Most times, these bites can easily be treated at home but there are some people who are allergic to bites and have more adverse reactions. Allergies are determined by difficulty breathing, which is when 911 should be called immediately.

What First Aid Can I Apply To A Bite?

The general first-aid procedure for insect and spider bites involves removal of the stinger if it’s still present by using the back of a flat surface such as a credit card across the surface of the skin. The area should then be washed thoroughly with soap and water. Ice wrapped in a wash cloth can help soothe the itchiness and irritation. If the victim is experiencing mild allergic reactions, antihistamines and anti-itch creams can soothe them. The site and other symptoms should be monitored for the next few days.

It is not possible to tell the type of spider or insect responsible for bite without examining the bite site. The Red Circular Rash can be an insect bite or it can be ringworm. Apply hydrocortisone cream and take anti- histamine medicines or visit to dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

For any googlers stumbling upon this...I have a red bump "bite site" with a circular rash about the size of a quarter on my right biceps. WIthin 48 hours it developed the rash and a very small puss center. I had slept in a bed that was in a room infested with spiders (bad idea, I know.) Pretty sure it's a spider bite.

It is a spider bite. I just don't know what kind though. It also happened to me. It can't be a ringworm because then your skin would peel. My bite was also a circle, with the mark in the middle.
