We had a puppy with parvo and the vet had informed us that it could take weeks if we wanted them to continue with the treatment. Unfortunatly, we financially couldn't do that. What you do need to do is disinfect all areas that your puppy has come in contact with, with bleach water. If you Google Parvo, the first website(working dogs)has great info on the disease and how to treat it

HELLO. .

If the pup has not vomited from the last 19 hours that means there is a ray of hope. .
As this disease can be really dangerous and un predictable. .  The vet can try him wit some light food like ,ice creAms and so on after it crosses 24 - 30 hours without vomiting and diarrhea. .  How ever if the conditions show the same progress I think yous pup can be discharged in other 2 days..  .  N  god forbids if it worsens a little then none can predict the number of days of survival or recover. .  How eva  pls do not give or or loose hopes . .  Cause you should neva have the chance to feel guilty bout it,. .
Hope yo pup gets well soon. .  Jai Hind

Don't get taken advantage of from your Vet. There is no cure for Parvo and keeping a dog with the disease is going to be very expensive if he/she lives. It will require a life time of medication and frequent vet visits. I love my animals just as much as anybody, but you need to put emotions aside and think of the quality of life for the animal and your pocketbook! Good Luck.

Sorry but you're dumb. Its not a lifetime of medications. Once he's over it, its over. But there is no cure for. What the vet does it keep it hydrated so the condition of the pet doest worsten. The medication given is to stop if from getting worse and spreading. Only the dogs immune system can fight the parvo virus. But not medication is needed after hes over the virus.

I agree with the above comment. All the vet can do is is maintain the animals hydration. Once things improve, small amounts of water and food might be given. If it's caught in time the animal can be saved, if not they will probably die. We had 2 parvo puppies at our clinic, one came in immediately after the symptoms were discovered and survived, we lost the other puppy, it was too late. Once they are through the can make a full recovery, there is no medications after the treatment.
