Before start of labor in dogs, they stop eating, make nest, become agitated, become restless, lick their genitalia and pay frequent visits to the nest. When labor starts, dogs can shake due to uterine contractions which are very painful. They can also strain to push puppy outside. If dogs strain for 2 hours without and result then visit to vet is necessary.
